What is Livestorm?

Livestorm is a browser-based platform for webinars and video events. It covers the whole cycle of an event: a registration page and reminder emails before, an event room with chat, polls and Q&A during, and replays, attendee analytics and CRM sync after. Hosts and attendees join from a browser, so nobody has to install an app.

It is made by Livestorm SAS, a French company registered in Lyon, which also trades as Livestorm Inc. Customer data is hosted on AWS in Ireland, which makes it a common choice for European companies that care about GDPR.

The problem it solves is that general video-meeting tools are built for meetings, not marketing. A webinar needs registration, automated emails, engagement data per attendee and a clean hand-off to the CRM so sales can follow up. Livestorm puts those pieces in one product and charges by attendee rather than by host seat, so a whole team can run events without buying a licence each.

In 2026 Livestorm added more AI: it acquired the clipping tool Qlip in June and turned it into Livestorm AI Studio, and it released Livestorm MCP, which connects AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT to your event data.

Who it is for

  • B2B marketing teams that run lead-generation webinars and need registrations, attendance and engagement in HubSpot, Salesforce or Marketo.
  • Customer success and onboarding teams that run recurring training sessions and want replays and on-demand versions without extra work.
  • Product marketers who run launch events with several speakers and want polls, Q&A and a replay page afterwards.
  • Teams that pre-record. Event automation plays a recorded video “just like live” on a schedule, which suits evergreen demos.
  • European companies that want EU hosting and a GDPR-focused vendor.

Who should not use it: people who host one or two webinars a year (the annual minimum is hard to justify), events that expect more than 3,000 live attendees, and teams whose real need is internal meetings. For internal meetings, a meeting assistant such as MeetGeek on your existing video tool is a better fit.

Key features

  • Registration pages and emails. Custom registration fields, registration limits, multi-session registration, an embeddable registration widget and unlimited email cadences built from templates, plain text or custom HTML. You can see the delivery status of each email.
  • Three event types. Live events, on-demand events, and event automation, which starts and ends a pre-recorded session automatically. A live event can be converted to on-demand afterwards.
  • Engagement in the room. Chat, polls, Q&A with upvotes and a banner for the question being answered live, emoji reactions, raise hand, PowerPoint embedding, file and link sharing, noise cancellation, virtual backgrounds and phone dial-in.
  • Replays and analytics. Instant replays with closed captions, contact records for every attendee, UTM tracking, attendance and conversion rates, emoji reaction analysis, and export of questions, chat and data.
  • AI features. AI Captions (beta) for closed captions, AI Transcripts (beta) for downloadable replay transcripts and search inside replays, AI Content Repurposing (beta) for recap text, blog drafts, social posts and email copy, Livestorm AI Studio (add-on) for short social clips from replays, and Live Translations (add-on) for real-time subtitles in 29 languages.
  • Livestorm MCP. A verified connector in Claude’s directory that also works with ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and Microsoft 365 Copilot. It can list events, pull attendance and engagement analytics, register people one by one or in bulk, and push data to a CRM.
  • Integrations. HubSpot (with Marketing Events support), Salesforce, Marketo, Pardot, Microsoft Dynamics, Pipedrive and Zapier, plus an API and webhooks. Brevo is an Enterprise add-on.
  • Branding and languages. Custom branding and room design, a company page listing your events, 24 interface languages and right-to-left language support.

Pricing

Livestorm uses attendee-based pricing. You buy a yearly pack of attendee credits, and one credit is used per unique participant per session, whether they watch live, the replay or on demand. Watching live and then the replay of the same session uses one credit; the same person attending two different sessions uses two. Team members never use credits, and people who register but do not show up use none.

Prices are at the time of writing, from livestorm.co/pricing and Livestorm’s billing help article. The pricing page shows euros by default.

What each plan includes:

  • Free: 30 credits a year, events up to 30 minutes, 10 events per organisation, 20 sessions per event, no email editing, no credit card and no time limit.
  • Pro: sessions up to 4 hours, 3,000 live attendees per event, 25 simultaneous speakers, unlimited moderators, events, recordings and team members, plus the popular integrations such as HubSpot and Zapier.
  • Enterprise: sessions up to 12 hours, Enterprise integrations, custom analytics, a dedicated customer success manager, live event shadowing, VIP support and an SLA.

Billing rules worth knowing: Pro and Enterprise are billed annually only and renew automatically, unused credits do not roll over, and when you hit your quota new attendees cannot join (people already counted still can, and registration stays open). Add-ons have no public prices: Livestorm AI Studio, Live Translations, Restreaming to LinkedIn, YouTube and X, RTMP Input, SAML SSO, extra API calls, Multiple Workspaces and Video Hosting Region. Live Translations, Restreaming, RTMP, SSO and extra API calls need at least a 1,000-credit plan.

How to use Livestorm: step-by-step

1. Create a free workspace

Sign up on livestorm.co with your work email. No card is needed for the Free plan. Invite colleagues as team members; they do not use attendee credits.

2. Brand your workspace

Upload your logo and set colours for the registration page and event room, and fill in the company page that lists your public events. Choose the interface language your audience will see.

3. Create your first event

  1. Create a new event and pick the type: live, on-demand, or event automation if you will play a pre-recorded video.
  2. Add a title, description and speakers, and schedule one or more sessions. A multi-session event lets people pick a date on the same registration page.
  3. Keep Free-plan limits in mind: sessions stop at 30 minutes.

4. Set up registration and emails

  1. Add the registration fields you need, such as company and job title, and set a registration limit if seats are scarce.
  2. Review the email cadence: confirmation, reminders before the event and the follow-up with the replay. On Pro you can edit these or write your own HTML; on Free you cannot.
  3. Copy the registration link or the embeddable widget into your website, newsletter or ads, and add UTM parameters so you can see which channel brought each registrant.

5. Connect your CRM

Connect HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or another integration so registrations and attendance flow into contact records. With HubSpot you can use Marketing Events. Run a test registration with your own email and confirm the contact appears in the CRM before you promote the event.

6. Run the live session

  1. Join the room a few minutes early from the browser, check camera, microphone and screen share, and upload any PowerPoint you will embed.
  2. Assign session roles so a colleague moderates the chat and Q&A while you present.
  3. Launch polls at natural breaks, answer upvoted questions, and pin the question you are answering live so attendees can follow.

7. Use the replay and AI features afterwards

Once the session ends, the replay is available instantly with captions. Download the AI transcript, use AI Content Repurposing to draft a recap email and blog post, and export the questions and chat so sales can follow up on what people asked. Review analytics for attendance rate and engagement by contact. If you work with AI assistants, connect Livestorm MCP (an owner or admin enables the Public API first) to ask questions such as which attendees asked about pricing.

Tips to get better results

  • Size your credit pack from attendees, not registrants. Only people who join use credits, so base the pack on your typical show-up rate.
  • Be careful with recurring series. A weekly onboarding session with the same 50 people uses 50 credits every week, because each session counts separately. Invite each person to one session, and point repeat viewers to that session’s replay, which does not use a second credit.
  • Use event automation for evergreen content. A pre-recorded demo that runs on a schedule frees speakers and still gets live chat and Q&A.
  • Put a moderator in every session. A second person handling chat and questions makes the session feel live and keeps the speaker on track.
  • Treat AI output as a first draft. AI Captions, Transcripts and Content Repurposing are in beta; check names, product terms and numbers before you publish anything.
  • Track sources with UTMs. Livestorm records UTM data per registrant, so you can see which channel brings people who actually attend.
  • Plan the follow-up before the event. Push attendance and engagement data into your CRM or email tool, such as ActiveCampaign via Zapier or the API, so attendees get a relevant email the same day.

Limitations and common problems

  • High entry price for paid use. Pro starts at €1,000 / $1,200 a year with no monthly option. Workaround: test thoroughly on the Free plan first and pick the smallest pack you will actually use, since credits carry over when you upgrade mid-term.
  • Credits run out mid-year. New attendees cannot join once the quota is reached. Workaround: watch the usage alerts and upgrade before a big event; remaining credits move into the new plan.
  • 3,000 live attendee ceiling. Both Pro and Enterprise cap live attendance per event. For larger audiences, consider restreaming to LinkedIn or YouTube (an add-on) or a dedicated large-event platform.
  • Beta AI and unpriced add-ons. Several AI features are labelled beta, the caption page gives two different language counts, and AI Studio and Live Translations have no public price. Get a quote before you plan around them.
  • Free plan scope is unclear. One Livestorm help article describes the Free plan as limited to pre-recorded events and another does not; test it yourself before relying on it for live sessions.
  • AI and data policy. Livestorm says customer data is used only to provide and improve the service and is not sold, but it does not publish an explicit statement on AI model training. ISO/IEC 27001 is listed on its Trust Center; SOC 2 is not.

Alternatives

  • Zoom Webinars - the familiar default if your company already pays for Zoom, though it is licensed differently from Livestorm’s per-attendee model.
  • MeetGeek - not a webinar platform, but the better choice if what you really need is recording, transcribing and summarising internal meetings.
  • Quo - for teams whose customer conversations happen by phone and text rather than in scheduled events.
  • Marketing suites with webinar features - some all-in-one marketing platforms bundle basic webinars; see our marketing tools list and our email marketing software guide for the follow-up side.

Verdict

Sign up for Livestorm if you run webinars regularly for marketing, onboarding or training, want everything in the browser, and need registrations and engagement data to land in HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM. Its per-attendee pricing is fair for teams with many hosts and moderate audiences, and Livestorm MCP is a genuinely useful extra if you already work with AI assistants. Skip it if you host only a handful of webinars a year, need monthly billing, or regularly expect more than 3,000 live attendees.
