What is OmniSEO?

OmniSEO is an AI search visibility platform. More people now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google’s AI Overviews for recommendations instead of clicking through ten blue links, and those answers mention some brands and not others. OmniSEO tracks whether your brand appears in those answers, which of your pages are cited as sources, how the answer describes you, and how you compare with competitors. The discipline is often called generative engine optimisation (GEO) or answer engine optimisation (AEO).

The product says it is “powered by WebFX and SEO.com”. WebFX is a digital marketing agency in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and OmniSEO’s privacy policy is WebFX’s general policy. WebFX also sells done-for-you GEO and AEO services, so expect some upsell towards managed services, especially on Enterprise, which offers an optional dedicated GEO specialist.

The problem it solves is measurement. Traditional rank trackers cannot tell you whether ChatGPT recommends you when someone asks for “the best accounting software for freelancers”. OmniSEO runs and monitors those prompts across AI platforms and turns the results into visibility scores, share of voice and recommendations.

Who it is for

  • SEO and content teams that already track Google rankings and now need to report on AI answers too.
  • Marketing leads who want to know how often AI assistants recommend them compared with their main competitors, and what those assistants say.
  • Agencies that report AI search performance to clients. Professional includes CSV and PDF exports and 10 seats; Enterprise adds multi-brand and multi-location tracking.
  • Content strategists looking for questions people ask AI tools where their brand is missing.

Who should not use it: very small businesses with little search demand, since $89 a month buys only 50 tracked prompts. Teams that want classic keyword rankings, backlink data or technical site audits need a traditional SEO tool; OmniSEO does not replace one. And if you need clear answers on how your data is stored and used before buying, be aware the public site does not say (see Limitations).

Key features

Feature names below are the ones OmniSEO uses on its features page.

  • AI Visibility Dashboard. Visibility scores and trends for each AI platform, competitive benchmarking, and exports and reports on paid plans that include them.
  • Prompt Research (Explore Prompts). Search by domain or topic to find prompts people use, see content gaps, view an estimated prompt query volume (PQV) with a trend, and read ChatGPT’s answer with the sources it cited.
  • Prompt Tracking. Save prompts and monitor how answers and your presence in them change over time. Plans cap saved prompts per month.
  • Sentiment Analysis. How AI answers describe your brand, not just whether they mention it.
  • Competitor Intelligence. Share of voice and gap analysis against up to 5 competitors per plan.
  • Citation Tracking (AI Citation Tracker). Which of your pages large language models cite, with citation health scores.
  • Strategic Opportunities and AI Strategy Assistant. Prioritised recommendations and action plans, plus a chat assistant for questions about your data.
  • Per-engine trackers and AI Bot Analytics. Dedicated ChatGPT Tracker, Perplexity Tracker, AI Overview Tracker and AI Mode Tracker pages, and an AI Bot Analytics module that the public pages do not describe in detail.
  • Free tools. AI Prompt Volume Checker, AI Brand Research, Query Fan-Out Generator and Top Brands by Industry, usable without a paid plan.

Pricing

Prices below are from omniseo.com/pricing at the time of writing. Annual billing gives two months free. A current promotion takes 50% off the first paid month ($45 on Essentials, $175 on Professional).

Other plan details:

  • Competitors: 5 tracked competitors on each plan; on Enterprise, 5 per brand or service line.
  • Enterprise extras: multi-brand and multi-location tracking, custom integrations, an SLA and an optional dedicated GEO specialist.
  • Support: email on Essentials and Professional; email, chat and phone on Enterprise.
  • Plan changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
  • Free trial: 7 days, no credit card, limited to ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.

The platform count is the main reason to pick Professional. Essentials does not track Gemini, Claude or Copilot at all, and it cannot export data, which matters if you report to clients or management. Check the pricing page before you buy, as prices and promotions change.

How to use OmniSEO: step-by-step

OmniSEO does not publish a help centre or product documentation, so the steps below stay at the level its public pages describe. We do not list in-app menu paths for adding competitors or saved prompts because they are not documented publicly; follow the in-app prompts for those parts.

1. Test the idea with the free tools

  1. Before signing up, open the free AI Prompt Volume Checker on omniseo.com and enter a topic from your market.
  2. Try AI Brand Research on your own brand to see what OmniSEO surfaces, and the Query Fan-Out Generator to see how one question breaks into related searches.
  3. If the topics you care about show little prompt volume, the paid plans may not be worth it yet.

2. Sign up and start the trial

  1. Go to app.omniseo.com/signup and create an account. No card is needed for the 7-day trial.
  2. Enter your brand’s website. OmniSEO says it then pulls prompts that already cite you, in about 60 seconds.
  3. Remember that the trial covers only ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, so judge it on those two.

3. Build your prompt list

  1. Use Prompt Research (Explore Prompts) to search by your domain and by your main topics.
  2. For each candidate prompt, look at the PQV estimate and trend, the ChatGPT answer and the sources it cited.
  3. Save the prompts that match real buying questions, such as “best [category] for [audience]” or “[your brand] vs [competitor]”, for Prompt Tracking. Essentials allows 50 a month, so choose carefully.

4. Add competitors and read the dashboard

  1. Add up to 5 competitors so Competitor Intelligence can calculate share of voice.
  2. Open the AI Visibility Dashboard to see your visibility score per platform and how it trends.
  3. Check Sentiment Analysis for how answers describe you, and Citation Tracking for which of your pages are cited and how healthy those citations are.

5. Act on Strategic Opportunities

  1. Review Strategic Opportunities, which lists prioritised recommendations and action plans.
  2. Ask the AI Strategy Assistant follow-up questions about specific gaps.
  3. Turn the top two or three gaps into content or page updates, then watch the tracked prompts over the following weeks. On Professional, export the results as CSV or PDF for reporting.

Tips to get better results

  • Track buying questions, not vanity prompts. “Best CRM for small agencies” tells you more than your brand name alone.
  • Spend the trial on comparison. Track the same prompts for yourself and two competitors so the trial shows share of voice, not just a single score.
  • Check answers by hand. AI answers vary between runs and users. Ask a few tracked prompts yourself in ChatGPT and Perplexity to sanity-check what the dashboard reports; our Perplexity vs ChatGPT for research comparison explains how the two handle sources differently.
  • Fix cited pages first. Pages that AI tools already cite are the quickest wins; make sure they are accurate and current.
  • Treat PQV as a direction, not a number. OmniSEO does not explain how it estimates prompt volume, so use it to rank prompts against each other rather than to forecast traffic.
  • Decide on platforms before you pay. If your audience uses Gemini, Copilot or Claude, Essentials will not show it.
  • Write prompts the way users do. Short, natural questions match real usage better than keyword strings; our guide on how to write better prompts covers how people phrase requests to AI tools.

Limitations and common problems

  • Limited trial. Only ChatGPT and AI Overviews are included, so you cannot test the wider platform coverage before paying.
  • Essentials is narrow. Four platforms, 50 saved prompts and no exports make it a monitoring plan rather than a reporting plan.
  • No public documentation. There is no help centre or changelog, and the site does not state how often tracking refreshes beyond “real-time” wording. Ask sales or support before you rely on a specific cadence.
  • Undocumented methodology. How PQV is estimated is not published.
  • Data handling is unclear. The privacy policy is WebFX’s general policy, last updated in May 2024. It says WebFX does not sell or share personal information, but it does not say whether your prompts and data are used to train AI models, where data is stored, or which sub-processors are used. No SOC 2 or GDPR claim appears on the site.
  • Agency upsell. WebFX sells managed GEO services; decide in advance whether you want software or a service.
  • AI answers are volatile. Any visibility tool samples answers that change by user, location and day. Use trends over weeks rather than single readings.

Alternatives

  • Semrush (AI visibility tools) - a broad SEO suite that also reports on AI search visibility; useful if you want classic SEO and AI tracking in one subscription.
  • Ahrefs Brand Radar - Ahrefs’ tool for tracking brand mentions in AI answers, alongside its backlink and keyword data.
  • Profound - a dedicated AI search visibility platform aimed at larger brands.
  • Peec AI - an AI search analytics tool for tracking brand mentions and sources across AI assistants.
  • Manual checks - asking your key prompts in ChatGPT and Gemini each month costs nothing, though it does not scale.

Verdict

Sign up for OmniSEO if your team needs to show how often AI assistants mention and cite your brand compared with competitors, and you can act on the gaps it finds. Start with the free tools and the trial, then choose Professional if Gemini, Claude or Copilot matter or if you need exports. Skip it, or ask hard questions first, if you need documented methodology, a stated data-training policy or classic SEO data; a traditional SEO suite or simple manual checks may serve you better.
