What is Leadpages?
Leadpages is a landing page builder for small businesses that has been rebuilt around AI. You describe the page you want in plain language, the AI generates it in your brand colours and fonts, and you refine it by chatting with the AI or editing visually. You then publish it to your own domain, collect leads with forms, send them to your email or CRM tool and, on the higher plans, test versions of the page against each other.
The company has been around since 2012 and says it has served more than 400,000 customers (a vendor figure). The current product, which the help center calls “New Leadpages”, is a rebuild. Existing customers can keep using the older Classic builder or switch to the new one. This guide covers New Leadpages.
The problem it solves is the gap between a marketing idea and a live page. A coach launching a webinar, a local business running a Facebook ad or a consultant offering a free guide usually needs one focused page with one form. Leadpages aims to get that page live in minutes without a designer or developer, and without visitor-based pricing that punishes you when an ad works.
Who it is for
- Small businesses and solo marketers who need landing pages, simple sites or a blog without hiring a designer.
- Coaches, consultants and creators collecting leads for webinars, lead magnets, discovery calls and product launches.
- Paid-traffic marketers who want to match pages to ads with Dynamic Text Replacement and test variants (Grow and Optimize plans).
- Developers and AI-heavy teams who want to build pages from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through the MCP server, or push content in through the API.
Leadpages is not an email marketing platform. It captures leads and passes them on, so pair it with a tool like ActiveCampaign for nurturing. If you mainly need popups and sticky bars on an existing website, or you run large-scale experiments across many paid campaigns, Unbounce is a closer fit.
Key features
- AI Page Builder (“Build with AI”). Type a description and choose where it goes: a landing page (the default), a new website, or an addition to an existing site. Quick-start chips cover common jobs such as a high-converting landing page, webinar page, product sales page and lead gen squeeze page. Leadpages says a page is generated in about 60 seconds.
- AI chat editing. Select an element and ask for a change, or request page-wide revisions. A Prompt Library groups reusable prompts under Copy, Design, Forms, CTAs and SEO, and you can save your own. You can also give a reference URL so the AI matches an existing site’s look.
- Visual editor and templates. “Build Visually” is a drag-and-drop editor for sections, text, images, buttons and forms. “Browse templates” clones a template without using the AI. You can also upload an HTML file up to 5 MB or paste code.
- Brand Kits. Store colours, fonts, logo and brand voice so the AI applies them automatically. Business includes one kit, Grow three and Optimize five; Pro has none.
- Forms, sites and blogs. Add a form with AI, review submissions in the dashboard and get email notifications. Honeypot spam protection is built in. Multi-page sites share navigation and footers, and every plan includes at least one blog.
- A/B testing and optimisation. From Grow, create variants, set a goal (form submission, element click, purchase or offsite conversion) and split traffic. Results show conversion rate, lift and a confidence label. Optimize adds multivariate tests, Smart Traffic, heatmaps and automatic personalisation.
- Dynamic Text Replacement and Visitor Intelligence. Grow swaps page text to match the visitor’s ad or keyword and adds anonymous traffic detection (2,000 visitors a month) and lead enrichment (1,000 a month). Optimize raises those to 5,000 and 2,500.
- Integrations, webhooks, API and MCP. Native integrations include Mailchimp, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Kit, Klaviyo, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Shopify, Google Sheets, Slack and Zoom, plus Zapier. Webhooks fire on form submissions and page changes. The Leadpages MCP server (47 tools, per Leadpages) lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code and other MCP clients build and manage pages, and is included on every plan.
Pricing
Leadpages has no free plan; each paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial. A card is required at sign-up, but you are not charged until day 7, and if the trial ends without a plan your account pauses with pages saved. Annual billing saves 20%. All plans include AI page creation, custom slugs, removal of Leadpages branding, forms and webhooks, API access, the MCP connector and UTM tracking. Leadpages says there are no traffic caps and no overage fees. Prices below are monthly, from the Leadpages pricing page at the time of writing.
| Plan | Monthly | Pages | Custom domains | AI credits / month | Seats | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $29 | 25 | 1 | 12,000 | 1 | 1 blog, 5 GB storage, 5 integrations; 90-day analytics, 30-day form history, no lead CSV export |
| Business | $49 | 50 | 2 | 20,000 | 1 | 2 blogs, 1 brand kit, 10 GB, 12-month analytics, lead CSV export |
| Grow | $99 | Unlimited* | 4 | 40,000 | 1 | Manual A/B testing (6 variants per page), Dynamic Text Replacement, personalisation, Visitor Intelligence |
| Optimize | $199 | Unlimited* | 6 | 80,000 | 3 | Multivariate tests, Smart Traffic, heatmaps, auto-personalisation, 10 integrations, email support |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | SSO, custom contracts, dedicated support |
*The comparison table says unlimited pages; the pricing FAQ gives 500 pages for Grow and 1,000 for Optimize. The FAQ also mentions a Scale plan at $399 a month with 160,000 AI credits and automatic optimisation, which does not appear on the plan cards.
AI credit top-ups start at $2.50 for 2,000 credits and do not expire. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades apply at the end of the billing period, and pages or domains over the new limit are deactivated, not deleted. After the trial, payments are non-refundable, but you can cancel renewal at any time.
The jump that matters is from Business to Grow. If you want to test pages, you need at least $99 a month; if you only need a handful of well-built pages, Pro or Business is enough.
How to use Leadpages: step-by-step
1. Set up your account and brand
- Go to leadpages.com, pick a plan and click Start 7-Day Free Trial. You can sign up with email and password, or with Google or GitHub. You may need to verify your email before publishing.
- You land on the Dashboard, which shows your plan, AI credit balance, page count and views. The left sidebar holds Pages, Sites, Blog, Analytics, Submissions, Custom Domains, Integrations, Brand Kits and Billing.
- On Business or above, open Brand Kits and create a kit with your colours, fonts, logo and brand voice before generating anything. The AI uses it automatically, which saves rework.
2. Build and publish a landing page with AI
- Click New Page and choose Build with AI. The other options are Build Visually and Upload HTML.
- Leave the destination chip on Landing page and write a specific prompt. Include the business, audience, offer, goal, sections and tone, for example: “Landing page for a 45-minute webinar on bookkeeping for freelancers. Audience: UK sole traders. Goal: registrations. Sections: hero with date, three benefits, speaker bio, FAQ, registration form. Tone: friendly and plain.”
- Click Generate or press Enter. Generating uses AI credits.
- Refine the result. Click an element and ask the AI chat for a change (“make the headline shorter and lead with the outcome”), or edit directly in the visual editor. To add a form, open the Add panel, go to the Form tab and choose Add a form with AI.
- Open Page Settings from the three-dot menu to set the URL slug, SEO title and description, favicon and optional password protection.
- Click Publish at the bottom right. The button changes to Live; later edits show as “Live + Draft changes” until you republish.
3. Connect a domain and route leads
- Go to Custom Domains > Connect Domain, enter a root domain or subdomain, and choose which page, site or blog it points to.
- Click Add & Configure Domain. The Entri pop-up can set DNS automatically after you authorise your registrar, or you can choose manual setup and add the records Leadpages shows. SSL is free but can take up to 48 hours. If your main website already uses the root domain, use a subdomain such as
go.example.com. - Open Integrations, click Connect on your email or CRM tool and sign in.
- Create an automation by describing it to the AI (for example, “Add form leads to HubSpot as contacts”) or with + New Automation, choosing the trigger and the action.
- Submit a test lead on the live page and check that it appears in Submissions and in your connected tool.
4. Run an A/B test (Grow and above)
- Open the page, click the flask icon (Optimize) and go to the A/B Test tab.
- Click Create Variant and change one thing, such as the headline or the call to action.
- Set the goal (form submission, element click, purchase or offsite conversion), keep the default 50/50 split and click Start Experiment.
- Let it run. Leadpages recommends at least 100 visitors per variant and seven days. When the result reaches “clear winner”, click Promote Winner.
Tips to get better results
- Write prompts like a brief. Name the audience, the single goal and the sections you want. Vague prompts produce generic pages and waste credits on rework.
- Set up a brand kit first. It is the quickest way to stop every AI page looking like a template.
- Edit with targeted requests. Selecting one element and asking for one change uses the AI more precisely than regenerating the whole page.
- Save prompts that work. Add your best copy and form prompts to the Prompt Library so the team reuses them.
- Keep one goal per page. Remove navigation and extra links from campaign pages so the form or button is the only next step.
- Match the page to the ad. On Grow, use Dynamic Text Replacement so the headline repeats the keyword or ad promise.
- Test one change at a time and wait. Low-traffic tests stopped early mislead; respect the 100 visitors and seven days minimum.
- Check form routing after every edit. Submit a test lead whenever you change a form or integration.
Limitations and common problems
- No A/B testing below Grow. Pro and Business cannot run tests, even though the pricing FAQ suggests A/B testing is on every plan. The plan table is clear that it starts on Grow. Budget for $99 a month if testing is the reason you are buying.
- AI credits run out. Generation, chat edits and URL imports all draw on credits. If you iterate heavily, watch the balance in the top bar and buy a top-up pack, or switch to visual editing for small changes.
- Conflicting documentation. Classic and New Leadpages share one help center, and the pricing page, FAQ and help articles disagree on page limits and which plans exist. Look for articles marked “[New Leadpages]” and treat the pricing page as the source for limits.
- Integration caps. Pro, Business and Grow allow five active integrations. If you need more, use webhooks or Zapier, or move to Optimize.
- Thin data on the entry plan. Pro keeps form submissions for 30 days and analytics for 90, with no lead CSV export. Route every lead to an email or CRM tool so nothing is lost.
- Support. The plan comparison only lists email support on Optimize and dedicated support on Enterprise. Expect to rely on the help center on lower plans.
- DNS delays. Custom domain SSL can take up to 48 hours. Connect the domain a day or two before a launch.
Alternatives
- Unbounce: the main Leadpages alternative for paid-traffic teams, with a mature drag-and-drop builder, popups, sticky bars and Smart Traffic. It starts at $29 but caps visitors, and A/B testing starts at $149 a month. Leadpages vs Unbounce comes down to price and visitor caps versus testing depth.
- ActiveCampaign: an email marketing and automation platform with its own landing pages; better if nurturing leads matters more than page design.
- Gamma: an AI tool for presentations, documents and simple web pages; fine for one-off pages, but without lead routing or testing.
- Landingi and Kit: Landingi is a template-based landing page builder with A/B testing, and Kit is an email platform for creators that includes landing pages.

Verdict
Sign up for Leadpages if you are a small business, coach or solo marketer who needs good-looking, on-brand landing pages quickly and does not want visitor-based pricing. The AI builder, a custom domain and integrations from $29 a month make Pro or Business a sensible starting point. Grow and Optimize are worth it only if you will run tests and personalise pages for paid traffic.
Skip it if you need popups and sticky bars on an existing site, unlimited integrations on a budget, or a full email marketing platform. In those cases look at Unbounce or ActiveCampaign. Use the 7-day trial to build a real campaign page before committing, and check how many AI credits your workflow uses.

At the time of writing, Pro is $29 per month, Business $49, Grow $99 and Optimize $199 on monthly billing, with 20% off for annual billing. Enterprise is custom-priced. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Does Leadpages have a free plan?

Does Leadpages have A/B testing?
Yes, from the Grow plan. Grow includes manual A/B testing with up to six variants per page, and Optimize adds multivariate tests and Smart Traffic, which routes each visitor to the variant most likely to convert for them. Pro and Business do not include A/B testing.
What are Leadpages AI credits?
AI credits are used when the AI generates a page, makes edits through the chat or imports a URL. Plans include 12,000 to 80,000 credits a month, refilled at the start of each billing cycle. Top-up packs start at $2.50 for 2,000 credits and never expire.
Is Leadpages better than Unbounce?
Leadpages is cheaper to start and has no visitor caps, which suits small businesses. Pick Leadpages for affordable AI-built pages and Unbounce for heavy paid-traffic testing.
Can I use Leadpages with Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes. Leadpages offers an MCP server, included on every plan and the trial, that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Gemini CLI create and manage pages after you sign in with OAuth.
