Notion AI Credits: What Changes for Business Seats on Nov 2

Notion AI now runs on credits. Every Business and Enterprise seat now includes 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits a month. New workspaces have been on this system since October 19, 2026, and existing workspaces switch on November 2. The “Agents, rebuilt” release also adds an Auto model router, ChatGPT plan billing, day-long agent runs, Enterprise BYOK and a rebuilt Notion MCP. How Standard and Select credits work

Business seats used to have a usage allowance with no published number. The new system makes the included amount explicit and, per Notion’s credits help page, splits it into two balances:

Both balances are per person, cannot be pooled and do not roll over. When one runs out, the features it covers pause until the reset. They keep working only if an admin turns on “Allow workspace to use Notion credits after AI limit is reached”, which is off by default.

The help page gives rough examples. Polishing an email costs about 5 credits on Auto and about 50 on Opus 5.5. A complex task, such as configuring a database, costs about 25 on Auto and 150 on Opus 5.5. At those estimates, 500 Select credits cover only a handful of heavy tasks on a top model.

One real improvement: you can now try Custom Agents with your included Select credits, without buying a credit pack first. If your team does need more, Notion’s credit pricing page lists $10 per 1,000 monthly credits and $13 per 1,000 annual credits at the time of writing.

Auto: the model router behind Standard credits

Auto sends each request to a model based on quality, speed and cost, and switches models if one stalls. Notion claims that across 20+ common tasks, Auto matched Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90% lower average cost, so “your credits go about 10× further”. We have not tested it, but the per-seat split clearly rewards leaving Notion Agent on Auto.

Use your ChatGPT plan in Notion Agent

Members on Business and Enterprise can connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go plan, from Settings, Notion AI, Usage or the model picker. Pick a GPT model and that session bills to your ChatGPT plan, not your Notion credits. Auto still uses Standard credits, and other vendors’ models use Select credits. It works only with your personal Notion Agent, not Custom Agents (help page). Enterprise customers can instead bring their own API key (BYOK, private alpha, via the account team). Longer agents and a rebuilt Notion MCP

The blog post says Notion Agents can now work on a single task for more than 24 hours, up from five minutes. They get their own computer and browser. A new “Review for me” mode uses a separate model to check actions before they run. Notion says Custom Agent runs cost about 30% less in its testing.

Notion MCP has been overhauled so outside agents, such as ChatGPT and Claude, can use your workspace as shared context. Memory sync is live, and skills via MCP are “coming soon”. An AI Command Center is also announced but not shipped. It will add per-member usage, spending limits and alerts.

What to do before November 2

• Check current usage under Settings, Notion AI, Usage, and compare heavy users against 500 Select credits.
• Decide on the overflow setting. If it stays off, people who run out simply pause. If you turn it on, they spend the workspace’s paid credits.
• Set Auto as the habit for routine drafting and search, and save model picking for work that needs it.
• Ask ChatGPT subscribers to connect their plan if they mostly use GPT models in Notion.
• Review shared Custom Agents. They still bill against purchased Notion credits, not personal Select balances.
