Gamma Alternatives (2026): Where to Switch and What It Costs
The best Gamma alternatives for real PowerPoint files, brand control, team decks and lower costs, with verified 2026 prices and a safe switching checklist.
PromptWises is reader-supported. Some links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects our ratings or recommendations.
The best Gamma alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you need native PowerPoint files, use Copilot in PowerPoint, or Plus AI if your organisation does not have Microsoft 365 Copilot. If your team lives in Google Workspace, use Gemini in Google Slides. If every deck must stay on brand, Beautiful.ai. If slides are one part of a bigger design workflow, Canva. If you pitch clients and want to see how they read your deck, Pitch. Prices below are at the time of writing, in USD, checked 25 October 2026. Tome, still on older lists, no longer offers its slide product; its site is offline.
Gamma and Beautiful.ai are partner tools in our AI content tools directory; that does not change the picks, and for some readers the honest answer is to stay.
Why people switch from Gamma
Gamma is still the fastest route from a prompt to a polished first draft that can also be published as a web page (our Gamma guide covers it in full). The complaints that push people elsewhere are consistent:
- It is not PowerPoint. Gamma is built on its own card-based canvas. It exports PDF, PNG and PPTX, but Gamma has its own help article on exports that do not match the on-screen version, slide masters come through blank, and Google Slides means uploading the PPTX.
- Credits are metered. Free gives 400 credits once; Plus gives 1,000 a month, Pro 4,000 and Ultra 20,000. Image-heavy decks use them faster.
- The free plan brands your exports. PDF and PPTX exports from a Free workspace carry a Gamma badge, including after a paid subscription lapses.
- Training is on by default. On Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra, Gamma may use your content to train its AI unless you opt out.

If you need real PowerPoint files: Copilot in PowerPoint or Plus AI
Copilot builds the deck inside PowerPoint, so there is no export step at all. Click the Copilot icon at the bottom right, describe the presentation, and Copilot may ask about audience, length, template and imagery, or decide for you. You can also start from a Word document (it works best under 24 MB and uses Word Styles for structure), and starting from your organisation’s template keeps its theme. Organisations can require a Brand Kit holding logos, fonts, colours, templates and brand voice.
Price: Microsoft 365 Personal is $9.99 a month (Family $12.99, Premium $19.99) for the account holder. For businesses, the Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on is $21 per user per month paid yearly, cut to $18 for the first year for existing eligible customers until 31 December 2026; Business Standard with Copilot is $23.50 (Microsoft pricing).
Plus AI is the route for teams without Copilot: one subscription covers its add-in in both PowerPoint and Google Slides, from $10 per user per month billed annually (Plus AI pricing).
Drawback: if Copilot is missing, it may not be in your plan or your admin may have switched it off. Plus AI’s trial needs a card, and templates built from your own slide masters require Enterprise.
If your team lives in Google Workspace: Gemini in Google Slides
Gemini generates a fully editable deck with text and images inside Slides. Choose “Presentation” on the Slides start screen, or “Ask Gemini” in a blank deck, then optionally add sources from the web, Drive, Gmail or Chat. “Match presentation style” copies the look of an existing deck in Drive. Gemini shows a plan with an outline for each slide, which you can edit before you click “Approve”. Our Gemini review covers the assistant itself, and the Gemini skills guide shows how to reuse prompts.
Price: Gemini in Slides is not included on Business Starter; it starts on Business Standard, listed at $14 per user per month at the time of writing (Workspace pricing). Personal accounts get it on eligible Google AI plans, such as Google AI Pro at $19.99 a month, or can try it through Google Workspace Experiments.
Drawback: it works on desktop and in English only, and you must keep the tab open while it builds.
If you need every deck on brand: Beautiful.ai
Beautiful.ai trades layout freedom for consistency. Its Smart Slides (300+ layouts) rearrange themselves as you add content, so nobody nudges boxes off-grid. The Team plan adds custom branded themes, locked slides and a centralised slide and template library, which is what stops a sales team from drifting off-brand. Editable PowerPoint and Google Slides exports are available on Pro, Team and Enterprise. Our Beautiful.ai guide walks through setup. For a feature-by-feature look at the two, see Gamma vs Beautiful.ai.
Price: Pro is $14.50 a month billed annually; Team is $40 per user per month billed annually or $50 monthly; a single presentation costs $45 for one month. There is no free plan, and the 14-day trial needs a card and charges in full unless you cancel.
Drawback: transitions and animations are lost on every export, and Google Slides exports also drop embedded video and audio.
If Gamma’s credits or seat price are the problem
Per seat per month, billed annually, at the time of writing:
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Gamma Plus | $9 |
| Plus AI Basic | $10 |
| Canva Pro | $12 ($144/year) |
| Pitch Plus (one seat) | $13 |
| Beautiful.ai Pro | $14.50 |
| Gamma Pro | $18 |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot Business add-on | $21 |
| Gamma Business | $40 |
| Gamma Ultra | $90 |
The honest twist: Gamma Plus is the cheapest paid plan here. If credits are your only complaint, buying 1,500 extra credits for $6 may beat switching, and unused plan credits roll over up to twice your monthly allowance. If you want to stop counting altogether, Beautiful.ai Pro lists unlimited AI content generation, and Pitch charges $0.004 per extra credit with a budget setting. Gamma’s prices come from its pricing page; monthly-billed prices are higher.
If slides are part of a bigger design workflow: Canva
If you also make social graphics, videos and documents, a separate slide tool may be one subscription too many. Canva generates designs, including presentations, from a prompt, and every person gets one AI allowance across the whole platform.
Price: Free includes up to 20 AI uses a month. Pro costs $144 a year ($12 a month) or $18 monthly, with up to 200 Premium or 20 Ultra AI uses. Business costs $250 per person per year or $25 monthly, with 400 Premium or 40 Ultra uses (Canva pricing).
Drawback: Canva calls its AI limits “operational controls and not fixed entitlements”, so they can change, and trials only get the Free AI allowance.
If you pitch clients and want analytics: Pitch
Pitch suits decks you send rather than present. On Team and above, advanced links track visits, slide views and time spent on each slide, and shared pitch rooms bundle a deck with resources behind one link so you can see how a client engages. Pitch imports PPTX, so a Gamma export can go straight in.
Price: Free is $0 for 1 to 5 members with 100 AI credits that do not renew. Plus is $13 a month paying yearly for one member, with 500 AI credits a month and PowerPoint exports without Pitch branding. Team is $19 (25 advanced links, 2 shared pitch rooms) and Business $25 with 750 shared credits (Pitch pricing). Prices are shown for one seat.
Drawback: the tracking features start on Team, not Plus.
If you care how your decks are used for AI training
Gamma’s individual plans (Free, Plus, Pro, Ultra) may use your content for training by default; you can opt out under Settings > Data Controls, and the setting is locked off on Business and Enterprise. Beautiful.ai says data processed by its AI “will not be used to train public LLM models” and is kept for up to 30 days. Canva disables training on Business and Enterprise content; we could not confirm the default for individual plans. Google’s Workspace pricing page says company data is not used to train models. Microsoft 365 business plans have their own terms; check them for your account.
Drawback: opt-outs generally cover future use, so set Gamma’s now if you are still deciding.
How to switch from Gamma without losing work
- Export while you still pay. Use Share > Export to download every gamma you need as PPTX or PDF. Free-plan exports carry the badge.
- Check the PPTX in the target tool. Tables export as editable tables and speaker notes carry over, but slide masters arrive blank and fonts may be substituted.
- For Google Slides, upload the PPTX. There is no reliable one-click route.
- Move Gamma Sites. Re-point any custom domains and replace gamma.site links you have shared.
- Rebuild your theme as a Brand Kit, theme or template in the new tool.
- Time the downgrade. It takes effect at the end of the billing period with no refund or proration, and plan credits above the new cap are removed. Purchased credits survive for a year after cancelling.
- Test before buying seats. Run one real brief through two candidates and compare editing time. A sharp brief helps every tool; see how to write better prompts.
Should you stay on Gamma?
Stay if you want decks that double as web pages (Pro includes up to 10 custom domains), social formats, the agent flow and a free start, or if Plus at $9 a seat billed annually covers your volume. Leave if your work has to live in native PowerPoint or Google Slides files, if brand control matters more than speed, or if you need client view tracking. More buying advice is in our guides.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Gamma?
It depends on why you are leaving. For decks that must live as real PowerPoint files, Copilot in PowerPoint, or Plus AI if you do not have Microsoft 365 Copilot. For Google Workspace teams, Gemini in Google Slides. For brand-locked team decks, Beautiful.ai. For slides inside a wider design workflow, Canva. For client and sales decks with view tracking, Pitch.
Is there a free alternative to Gamma?
Yes, with limits. At the time of writing Canva Free includes up to 20 AI uses a month, and Pitch Free gives up to 5 members 100 AI credits that do not renew. Beautiful.ai has no free plan, only a 14-day trial that needs a card, and Plus AI offers a 7-day trial that also needs a card. Gamma's own Free plan gives 400 credits at sign-up but stamps a badge on exports.
Which Gamma alternative works inside PowerPoint or Google Slides?
Copilot in PowerPoint builds decks inside PowerPoint itself, and Gemini in Google Slides does the same in Slides from Workspace Business Standard upwards. Plus AI is an add-in that runs inside both PowerPoint and Google Slides, so it suits teams that use either app without a Copilot or Gemini licence.
Is Beautiful.ai better than Gamma?
For consistent, on-brand slide decks, often yes: its Smart Slides keep layouts aligned, and the Team plan adds locked slides, custom branded themes and a shared slide library. Gamma is faster from prompt to first draft, is cheaper to start (Plus is $9 per seat per month billed annually against Beautiful.ai Pro at $14.50), and also publishes decks as web pages.
Can I move my Gamma presentations to PowerPoint or another tool?
Yes. Use Share > Export to download each gamma as PPTX or PDF, ideally while you still pay, because Free-plan exports carry a Gamma badge. Speaker notes and tables come through, but slide masters arrive blank and fonts may change. For Google Slides, upload the PPTX file. Pitch, Beautiful.ai and PowerPoint all open or import PPTX.
